The Foundation funds nonprofit organisations which aim to make the world a safer, fairer, and more sustainable place to live.   If an organisation believes that strong alignment exists with Oak Foundation’s funding priorities, we encourage it to submit an unsolicited letter of enquiry. These priorities are: Environment, Preventing Child Sexual Abuse, Housing and Homelessness, International Human Rights, Issues Affecting Women and Learning Differences. There are four national programmes: Brazil, Denmark, India and Zimbabwe. In addition there is also the Special Interest Programme, which funds causes the Trustees wish to support that fall outside the remits of the other programmes.

Grant size

Average grants are $600,000. Grants range from $25,000 to $10 million.  The Foundation commits multi-year, core support (unrestricted grants) where we can and when it fits within broader efforts. Core support has increased from 22% in 2013 to 42% in 2021.
